L. and Mom have had a good trip so far. We are the first two to come into China for our trip. We traveled for about 30 hours and were very tired by the time we got here. We went through 3 airports and about 15 hours worth of layover. The flight from Detroit to Bejing took about 13 hours. L. watched Mulan, a cartoon alien show, Wreck it Ralph, and a lot of other shows he didn't know about before. Mom watched The Help (loved the book and the movie was good too) and Pride and Prejudice (again... but always soothing). Our guide Ai Ping picked us up and brought us to the hotel very late at night.
We'll include one tired photo of Liam at one of the airports--can't remember which one. There were cool trains at both the Detroit and Beijing airport.
We have been shopping this morning... L, had jetlag in the store so he looks tired, but here is L. with some dragon fruit (and we ate some for breakfast) and with some frogs that could be picked out and bought for eating. They stank to him. We will include a photo in front of the hotel too. L. was amazed by the traffic on the sidewalks on the way to shop--both motorcycle and bicycle. He was afraid of getting mowed down, but kind of got used to it as we walked along.
There aren't many Westerners around--we haven't seen any since the airport--so people are enjoying people-watching us. Lots of Chinese kids want to say "Hello" to L.
We will meet P. H. in the morning and we can't wait. L. picked out some Chinese books that looked cool for him--dragony dinosaury things in them. We will be up early in the morning getting some paper work ready and then will go to the Civil Affairs Office to meet him.
